Indrek Laul

Indrek Laul is the owner and president of the Estonia Piano Factory. The Estonia brand has become one of America’s favorite European pianos, with 90 percent of Estonia grand pianos sold in the USA. Laul is also the best-selling pianist in Estonia, with 85,000 CDs sold. The Juilliard School named Laul one of its 100 Most Notable Graduates in its 100-year history.

In 1981, while studying piano at the Music School of Tallinn, Laul won the First Prize and a special prize performing Rachmaninov at the International Competition in Czechoslovakia. In 1989 Laul won the First Prize at the piano competition of the Republic of Yugoslavia and the First Prize at the competition of all music academies of Yugoslavia. In 1990 he graduated summa cum laude from the Belgrade Academy of Music with three awards. After receiving the Vladimir Horowitz scholarship, Laul completed Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in piano performance at the Juilliard School in New York.

Laul has received much critical acclaim. The Estonian weekly Sirp described one of Laul’s concerts: "...Piano Concerto ended in our main concert hall [erupting] into ovations. Indrek Laul played perfectly!" Kulturni Zhivot in Belgrade proclaimed, "Laul played brilliantly," and the New York Daily News called Laul "...a pianist of formidable technical and interpretative gifts." Articles about Laul have appeared in Forbes, Forbes Global, Home and Design, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Miami Herald.
